We first met at a swing dance session held by Dabe and
Janelle at Nick's Night Club in Alexandria after their weekly lessons,
so we were thrilled when they agreed to come up to New York to DJ and
teach a dance lesson at our wedding reception. We met with them beforehand to discuss our music preferences as well the reception program and were then able to put everything out of our minds. In addition to the lesson and dancing, Dabe and Janelle also announced all the events and kept everything organized. |

The lesson was wonderful, and the positive response from our guests was overwhelming. It was not only a great chance to pick up the basics for those who didn't know how to dance, but also a perfect way to get everyone mingling, since as the lesson went on, everyone switched their practice partners. The bride's friends met the groom's friends; college friends danced with elderly relatives; colleagues got to know neighbors, etc. After the lesson, the music came on, and instead of staying at their tables and watching a few brave souls on the dance floor, the majority of the guests were up dancing away. We enjoyed working with Dabe and Janelle very
much! When we met to go over the music selections, they were very
organized and helped us to think through all of the scheduling and
timing issues. We also had a lot of control over what music was
to be played and, in some cases, NOT to be played! During the
reception, Dabe and Janelle were friendly and entertaining, without
being “over the top.” They keep things moving along and helped
keep us on schedule. We especially enjoyed the “survival swing
lesson” that they taught. Not only was it fun for us, but it was
also a great ice-breaker for our guests! We love the pictures of
friends and family members all dancing with different partners.
The reception was a big success largely due to Dabe and Janelle.
We were having so much fun, that we weren’t ready to leave when it was
time for our big departure! We would definitely recommend Dabe

Katie and I really had a wonderful wedding, and you and Dabe
were a big part of that! So of course you can use us on your website.
We would highly recommend you to other couples for their weddings, or
to other groups that may need a DJ. The music was really good! You did
a great job playing our "request list" and the dance floor was full all
night. It was quite a party! You were also flexible with your time and

The Dabe and Janelle DJ DifferenceWe work with each couple or organizer to prepare a “play-map” or itinerary of the event. The play-map will include a general or specific timeline, music genres and special requests, order of events (e.g. toasts, dinner, first dance, cake cutting, awards), and event day coordinator information. We know that each event is something special and want to make sure the hosts know they are in well-prepared hands with Dabe and Janelle.We specialize in playing music for all generations; our selection ranges from Glenn Miller and Frank Sinatra to Elvis Presley and The Beatles – from Madonna and Prince to Lady GaGa and the Black Eyed Peas. Our goal is to play what the hosts would like to hear, while ensuring their guests enjoy their event. Honoring guest requests within the hosts’ guidelines is something we feel makes everyone happy. The best compliment is when hosts and guests say, “This has been a great event.” Besides working with the hosts on the play-map, we also can provide a satellite sound system for music and/or speakers' microphones. This may be helpful if the wedding is outside or if there is a patio where guests will be mingling. We provide lighting for the dance floor, but stay away from the disco ball and smoke machines. |
